For the last couple of months, I’ve been mulling over ideas for creating an online course or e-course focused on improving online visibility.

Because as you probably know, without online visibility, your business is invisible to the people you want to reach and work with.

Since 2008, I’ve been teaching clients and students how to get better visibility and evolving the tactics as social media has developed and AI has exploded on the scene. I’d say it’s my sweet spot.

I’d been thinking a lot about how to put it together.

Should it be a 52-week automated ecourse?

Should it be a #X module online course?

What about a newsletter? And what would that look like?

I decided on a newsletter and published the first official article, Visibility Isn’t Optional, on September 25.

Why a newsletter?

Because I want to offer you a multifaceted experience (if you’re interested) with content published weekly.

There is free and paid content so you can choose what works best for you.

There is written content, as well as occasional audio and video content.

There are quick and easy-to-implement visibility tips (free) and step-by-step implementation instructions, and additional content (paid).

But why wouldn’t I create a newsletter and use my own email broadcast system?

Well, it would take a lot more time and resources to put together all the features I can get from another platform like Substack or Beehiiv.

After more noodling and research, I decided to use Substack over Beehiiv even though most people I asked told me I should use Beehiiv because “that’s what all the gurus are using now.”

I dug into it and it’s a great platform. I subscribe to a lot of newsletters published on Beehiiv and they look great.

However, Beehiiv has more bells and whistles than I need or want. I could see myself spending waaaaaaaay too much time with set up and design and playing with all the features.

I reminded myself I wanted simplicity.

I already know Substack; I’ve used it on and off for about 3 years for 2 other projects.I like the minimal look and feel.

And most of all, it’s designed to help publishers get discovered by new readers. That’s a big deal if you want to increase your reach, attract more subscribers, and get better/more VISIBILITY.

When I set up my newsletter at the end of September, I had one subscriber…me. By the end of October, I had over 200, most new to me since they had been referred to Your Visibility Edge by friends, colleagues, and other publishers. That’s a big win.
