While on a webinar with Online Video Expert Lou Bortone, for the Social Media Biz School, a question came up about deleting out-of-date YouTube videos.
Yes, you can delete your old videos from YouTube, but what if you don’t want to?
Here’s the solution I came up with… [click here if you cannot see the video below]
Got a YouTube video tip? Post it in the comments and if your tip is a video, include the URL so we can watch your video too!

Love the video, Denise. Two questions:
–Do you use a special program to get the text of your video to show up at the bottom of the video?
–In the newer video, you said you created an annotation telling them they can “subscribe” to receive new video alerts. What link are using here? Is it the RSS feed for YouTube?

Hi Joan, thanks for stopping by! For the transcript at the bottom of the video, I used YouTube’s Caption/Transcription tool and uploaded the transcript so it automatically plays with the video. When I created an annotation with a call to action to subscribe, there is a choice of links you can use (all YouTube links). You can choose the url for another video or link to your YouTube subscribe page.

Hi Denise, I love using YouTube annotations, and I have quite a few outdated videos that I added annotations to.
Another great idea is to send the new video as a video response to the old video so that it shows up right underneath. Then you can change the description of the old video and mention that the new video is below. This way if they miss the annotation or if they look at the date they’ll see the note in the description.
Here’s the link to the old Facebook photo’s video with the huge red annotation and the newer video in the comment section http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XIBcAteBzGc
